Things To Do in Rock Springs WY

Rock Springs is in South West Wyoming in Sweetwater County and is the fifth most populated city in the state. if you're looking for some things to do in Rock Springs while we work on your vehicle, or visit the area, check out some of the activities below. 

Flaming Gorge

A reservoir and 207,000 acres of national recreation area enjoy activities such as boating (boats available for rent),  fishing, water skiing, kayaking, and wakeboarding. Explore the Dam, Green River, and more with surrounding trails for hiking and biking. Take a full-day tour, stopping by Firehole Canyon, Red Canyon Visitor Center, Sheep Creek Bay, Salmon Interpretive Site, and Buckboard Marina.

Sweetwater Speedway

Sweetwater Speedway in Rock Springs is part of the Sweetwater Events Complex. Built in the 1970s, the speedway continues to thrive, with several races at the weekends. Races include Go Karts, IMCA stock cars, IMCA Modified, and IMCA Sport Mod categories. Racing is in the evening and tickets can be purchased online (tickets are free for kids 6yrs old and younger) 

Events Complex

Sweetwater Events Complex in Rock Springs hosts events such as barrel racing, horse shows, fundraising auctions, roller derby, and ice cream socials. 

Rock Springs Historical Museum

At the Historical Museum in Rock Springs, you can explore the building from 1894, which includes the history of a jail, judge's chambers, and a fire station. View permanent and rotating exhibitions including photographs and artifacts relating to the railroad, coal mining, as well outlaws like Butch Cassidy. Individual or group tours are available at the museum. Explore the research library, gift shop, and penny pincher. 

Downtown Rock Springs

In downtown Rock Springs, you can browse boutiques for unique shopping opportunities, or grab a bite at a local restaurant. Shops include; Dugout Collectibles and Games, Daniels Jewelry, Eileen's Attic, Southwest Embroidery, and Gifts. Restaurants or places to eat in Downtown Rocksprings include; Chill Grill, Sapporo Japanese Steakhouse, Cowboy Crepes and Cafe, and White Moutain Mining Co.

Bunning Park

On J and Evans Street, check out Bunning Park where there's an outdoor park and picnic area. Live music and other outdoor events are held here, such as  Sweetwater Blues and Brews and ARTember.
