2018 JEEP RENEGADE
The Jeep Renegade, introduced in 2014, is set for a minor redesign. The 2019 version of Jeep's smallest vehicle reportedly will be released in the United States in September. A European version was introduced in June featuring new headlights, new taillights, and a lower bumper. Little else is known about that vehicle's specs, but there will likely be some carryover from the 2018 model's features.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
For 2018, the Renegade has six trim levels, starting with the Sport. This build has a starting MSRP of $18,445 for the front-wheel-drive (FWD) version and $20,100 for the 4x4 version. Other trim levels and their starting MSRPs are the Latitude ($21,945 for the FWD and $23,445 for the 4x4), Altitude ($22,740 for the FWD and $24,240 for the 4x4), Upland ($23,920 for a 4x4), Limited ($25,795 for the FWD and $27,295 for the 4x4), and Trailhawk ($26,945 for a 4x4).
Engine (Power)
The Sport, Latitude, and Altitude trims come with a 1.4-liter I-4 MultiAir turbo engine that produces 160 horsepower and gets 24 miles per gallon in the city and 31 on the highway. A manual six-speed transmission is standard. The Upland, Trailhawk, and Limited come with a 2.4-liter Tigershark MultiAir 2 engine that produces 180 horsepower. It gets 21 miles per gallon in the city and 29 on the highway, with the Limited's front-wheel-drive configuration getting slightly better efficiency. An automatic nine-speed transmission is standard.
Performance
The Renegade comes with hill start assist to help prevent rollbacks when starting on an incline. All 4x4 versions come with the Selec-Terrain traction management system, which has settings for Auto, Snow, Sand, and Mud (plus Rock on the Limited version). Versions with the 2.4-liter engine, which produces 175 pound-feet of torque, can tow up to 2,000 pounds.
Interior
The Renegade can seat five. With the back seats folded down, it has a cargo capacity of 50.8 cubic feet. Most versions of the Renegade have a six-way adjustable driver seat, four-way adjustable front passenger adjustable seat, and a 60/40 split folding back seat. All trim levels carry some version of the Uconnect infotainment system along with a USB port, auxiliary input jack, Bluetooth streaming, voice command controls, hands-free calling, and speed-adjusted volume. The Sport and Upland levels have the Uconnect 3 system with a 5-inch display screen. Other levels have the Uconnect 4 system with a 7-inch screen and SiriusXM satellite radio. It features support for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Uconnect 4C NAV is optional on some trims. It offers a sensor-assisted navigation system with voice destination entry and 3D visuals of terrain and city features. It also includes SiriusXM Travel Link, Traffic Plus, and Guardian.
Safety Features
All versions of the 2018 Renegade come standard with electronic stability control, electronic roll mitigation, anti-lock four-wheel disc brakes, and a rear-view back-up camera. Optional features include a rear park assist system, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, full-speed forward collision warning with brake assist, and automatic rain-sensing windshield wipers. The Renegade also has advanced multistage front air bags, front seat-mounted side air bags, driver knee-bolster air bags, and side-curtain front and rear air bags.
